Christmas in July? Well here's New Years in August...

With exactly a week left until the close of the most eventful summer of my life, I've decided that I want to start doing something with all the crazy ideas in my head and stick to it. For a girl who could never keep up with writing in a diary, this should be a challenge, but it will be worth it. I've always wanted to write a blog, especially one that girls like me could relate to. However, I've always been reluctant for fear of writer's block or that I wouldn't be able to think of anything to say. But there's no time like the present to try right? Why now though? Well I'll tell you...Like I said, this summer has been amazing! Tons of memories, both good and bad, but all of them will last a lifetime. After a really rough year, it took this summer for me to find myself and for me to get more comfortable with who I am. I realized this summer who mattered and who didn't and most of all that I don't want to blend in, especially not with the people around me who are so focused on this little window of the world. I gained new perspective on the potential of places I can go and things I can do. Now this blog is most likely going to be about whatever I'm going through at the moment, but I'd also like to focus on my personal style and fashion choices as a sort of advice column type deal. Don't get me wrong I love love LOVE fashion magazines, but sometimes I feel like they don't fully grasp just what it's like for real girls on a budget. Thus, this fashion/lifestyle blog was born! There's only one problem that has presented itself so far...and that is my own personal style identity crisis. Why would you start a blog about style when you're having a major fashion meltdown you might ask? Well, as a result of my newly found inner confidence, I have decided I'm tired of all the cookie cutter style found in my oh so small hometown. So this blog will not only help you guys find new ways to re-invent your styles but also help me redefine and experiment with mine. It's all about taking risks! Trust me, it's worth it. It gives you a sense of individuality and uniqueness that can't be found at the nearest Hollister or American Eagle store. While I have nothing against these stores, and I am the proud owner of multiple pairs of American Eagle jeans, I feel like most people wear those logos as a badge of being accepted. Fashion is not about others' approval but about what you like and how you feel in the clothes. So I say buy your name brand basics! But then go to a thrift store or some hole in the wall boutique and personalize your looks with some funky accessories! It's all about you! This year is your year! Be somebody! Who says resolutions are only for New Year's Eve? Today is the day I start my resolution! A resolution to dream big and just be me. Are you with me?

With Love,
The Real Girl
